Dear all,
I have bought these two bottles from the same source.
I recognize the motif of the first one, (see the first two pictures) which is related to one case of filial piety.
The 24 cases of filial piety are listed here:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Twenty-four_Filial_Exemplars
The case of this bottle is the number 6:
“He Fed His Parents with Doe's Milk (鹿乳奉亲; 鹿乳奉親; Lù Rǔ Fèng Qīn)
Tan Zi 郯子    Spring and Autumn period
Tan Zi's elderly parents were losing their sense of sight and believed that doe's milk could cure them. Upon hearing that, Tan Zi covered himself with deer's skin and got close to a doe to obtain its milk. He repeated the process every day. Once, a hunter mistook him for a real deer and almost killed him, but Tan Zi revealed himself and explained the situation to the hunter.”
But I can’t locate the motif of the second bottle (last two pictures). Besides the usual warrior riding a horse, there is an old lady and a young boy holding what looks like a lotus.
Any idea?
I believe that the second bottle too should be related to one of the cases, having found them together and being very similar.
The bottles are of small size, 53 mm high, and if I am not wrong, they could be early works of Yong Shoutian, or not?
The stoppers are glued to the bottles. I could remove them, but probably it is not a bad idea to keep them sealed for avoiding moisture.
Kind regards
Giovanni

Nice bottles. Perhaps painted by a student of Yong Shou T'ien. They remind me of scenes from Romance of the Three Kingdoms.

Dear George, thank you.
I thought about  the  possibility of  earlier works because of the small size of the bottles (his bottles are usually big) and the rather naïve style of painting, but you may be  right in attributing them to a student.
The first bottle is no doubt related to the story that I have mentioned, you can see the oy  wearing the skin of the deer and the vessel for collecting the milk.
Kind regards
Giovanni

Giovanni,

Two nice little bottles.  These are not my collecting genre, so I'm no help on the motif or artist.   Charll

Thank you, dear Charll.
You  know that  I too am not a big fan about IP bottles, but these small ones, undoubtedly not modern, especially if cheap as was these ones, are something that can deserve some consideration.
Kind regards
Giovanni
