Dear all,
I admit that I have a weak for this type of snuff bottles. Botryoid agate, small size, rounded form, slightly everted neck, concave mouth, and usually well hollowed, like this one.
They are apparently simple and not particularly attractive, but I consider these humbly details as indices of great accuracy.
With A LOT of imagination😊 one could see the inclusions of this bottle as forming a hedgehog at the top, a bat below it and a brown lingzhi fungus between them, see the last two pictures.
Kind  regards
Giovanni

Giovanni,

Nice, modest, agate bottle.  I would not hesitate to add it to my collection.  Specific to agate bottles I like bottles with subtle, but complex, inclusions.  I prefer this types over banded agates.

Dear Giovanni,
Another fine under-stated agate/chalcedony bottle. Is this the second of the 3 bottles you found at the recent Fair?

Regards,
Tom

Really wonderful bottle. Can't decide what to call these inclusions. They are not dendritic and can't decide if this might be considered a botryoidal shadow type agate.

I bet the lapidary worked the original rough piece of agate in a way that he first brought this very thin layer of inclusions to the surface and then shaped the rest of the bottle out of the remaining rough. Very skilled! I have always much more appreciated the skill it takes to be able and see inclusions within the rough piece and bring them to the surface like this, compared to those that "chase inclusions". I don't care for those types of bottles nearly as much.

Regardless, really nice and congratulations again on another beauty!

Dear George,
I found your comment about the carving and the inclusions very interesting and I took the liberty to include it in the description of the bottle; I hope you agree:
