I picked this up at a small auction. This is the first Bavarian glass bottle in my collection [83mm]. Most of the ones I have seen have a vase type flared neck. This one is flattened and solid enough for a stopper [which I added]. Any comments would be appreciated....John

So John, is this a perfume bottle that you added a stopper to?  There are a number of Czechoslovakian filigreed glass bottles that have been made into snuff bottles with a spoon. But so far I have not see anything like the bottle you've shown above.

To quote Sgt. Schultz, the Stalag 13 POW camp guard on the program Hogan’s Heroes,
“I know nothing! I know nothing!”.
Sorry, I couldn’t resist… Roll Eyes Shocked Grin
But seriously, John. I have ZERO knowledge on this.
There was an article in the Journal around 1987 by Heiner Schafer, I believe.
He gave a seminar at the 1987 London convention.
Having no interest in Bavarian ‘Tabakflasche’, I didn’t attend.
Or you could contact him or another German collector and ask.
There are a number in the Membership Directory.
Good Luck,
Joey

Charll and Joey, there is a slight taper to the opening which could fit a glass stopper [perfume]. Henric Adey has one in his collection. Maybe I can get him to post it.

Dear John,

Why didn’t you ask Henric first?

Henric finally sent me a picture of his bottle. He does not know much about it. Maybe I will show the bottle to Clare Chu when I see her next week.

Interesting, but doesn't appeal to me.
Best,
