Dear all,

Let me share with you all a 16 floor tall Chinese landscape painting which I recently acquired... into my photo album.... Grin Roll Eyes

Truly breathtaking and magnificent. Not an antique piece so to speak (dated 1991 - I feel reluctant to call it an antique as Iím 2 years its senior and that would make me a piece of antique as well, not cool... Roll Eyes )

Best viewed by taking a glass elevator from either top to bottom or the other way round. The Chinese style garden beneath the painting is equally beautiful...

Enjoy!

Best,
Samson

Hi Samson,

Wow! Breathtaking indeed. Where is it located?

Best,
Tom

PS: It's a little large for my collection, but if you can squeeze it into a 3-inch bottle, I'll be interested in buying it off you!

Dear Samson,

     Beautiful!
But how is it 16 storeys? High? Then how does one view it?
And the garden below is indeed also beautiful.
I'm going to do my Shabbat morning prayers now.
I hope this conundrum doesn't distract me....  Huh Wink
I'm on the beach (at the Tel Aviv Hilton Grin),
Shabbat Shalom,
Joey

Samson,

Wow, that is something else! I'd love to see that in person. Where is it?

Guys, the painting is titled ďThe Great Motherland of ChinaĒ. It is the centrepiece of art collection of the Island Shangri-La Hotel in Hong Kong. It was commissioned by the hotel for its grand opening in 1991. It was painted by 40 different artists on 250 silk panels in Beijing which were the assembled together.

The best way to view it is by taking the glass elevator inside the hotel from the 41st floor all the way up to the 56th floor.

Best,
Samson

P.S. I just realized itís the largest Chinese silk painting in the world...
