Hi All,

Did any other ICSBS members join the Zoom seminar by Clare Chu yesterday? A great idea!
As I have never attended one of  their annual conventions, it was an opportunity to meet and interact with other members "live" for the first time.
The discussion was about the Suzhou School of carving, and its close relatives.

The next seminar (also by Clare) is scheduled for 25 July.

Dear Joey,

I think the seminar was being recorded - at least there was a red "recording" button in the top corner of the screen.
Try asking Clare, or Julia Peled, who was acting as moderator.

I really enjoyed it and I took copious notes. I have a much better idea what to look for in Suzhou bottles now...not that I can actually afford one, but still.

I didn't see you on it, but did notice Charll and Brian from 'our' Forum.

BTW, the next Zoom seminar, or 'Zoominar' will be on Sunday 23 August - moved to Sunday for those like you yourself cannot easily join on a Saturday.

Glad you were able to attend the Zoom meeting today. The Guye Xuan mystery deepens...

BTW everyone, the next meeting will be "Share your favorite bottle". Could be one you own or one you covet. Like we can narrow it down to just one. Ha!

So I've got 4 weeks to figure out how to ZOOM, and to pick out my favourite bottle from about 490 bottles.
I will remove all modern IPSBs [150+], all antique IPSBs [200], all Glass [27].
Now, I 'only' have to decide among 90 Jades and 23 Assorted.
And each person is strictly limited to one bottle?
Gonna be hard...

Dear Joey,

There were over 50 participants last Saturday. They are expecting even more members to take part next time.
Consequently, the rule (set by Clare) is that if several people pick a similar type of bottle as their favourite (say for example, cinnabar lacquer), they will ALL get lumped into the same 'group presentation'.
So the trick is to pick a type or category which is NOT likely to be similar to others. Then you get to have a longer time slot of your own for talking about why it's your favourite.  Wink

Dear Tom,

     Thanks for the advice. I will have to figure out which 'favourite' I bung in.
Meanwhile, the two previous ones 'can' be accessed via the internet.
The question is 'may' they be accessed by non-members?
I've requested that a friend [I mean George, but if others want, I can do it, once one is accepted], be allowed to view them.
