This is the most watched (saved to bidders watch lists) bottle of all currently listed on eBay.. And not just a little lead over all the rest, but most popular with bidders by a mile !

Hi George

This seller is notorious for listing fake bottles with names of top artists ...  If only people would look at the forum instead of that crap.  Let's see how high it goes.  And yes, we have to wonder about the sanity of the bidders.

I don't think the seller has any idea about the bottle.. After all, everything else he has up for auction is really nice ..  I think the bidders just assume it is a special bottle because everything else he has up is authentic.

Wow Charll, great memory !

So attributed to WXS, and falsely signed, YZS.. Not only was Eldred's on the ball with describing it, but the bidders were gulping down the same kool-aid !

Crazy stuff...

Guys, I don't understand.

It is OBVIOUSLY a modern bottle in the style of the Shandong bottles from early 20th C., but with the bad colour and the intrusive carving of butterflies,
and the obvious fake Ye Zhongsan inscription, it can not be earlier than the 1980s.
And there is no way it can be attributed to Wang Xisan.

Why did it go so high, either time [Eldred's or the later sale]?
Best,
Joey

I agree with Pat, that this guy Chamberlain is always posting some questionable stuff, with stuff that may be ok.  I think part of the reason he has such a following is his marketing.  In the past I  think he has promoted his auctions on the Bidamount site moderated by Peter Combs.

Cheers,

Rube.
