I have a small collection of snuff bottles that were brought back from China by my grandparents around 40 years ago. Can someone give me insight into these snuff bottles and possibly value? Thank you.

You should try to do a little better if you hope for members to help you with your bottles Carl.

I would start with an introduction.

Then post each bottle in the appropriate section of the forum. Many members do not offer values here, but we can give you a proper description of each so you can further research archived auctions online.

If you are unsure where to post each bottle, go ahead and take individual pictures and send each to me in a private message and I can point you to the correct posting area within the forum.

George,
I apologize for not posting a formal introduction as I was not aware I needed to. I looked at all of the threads and was unable to specifically find the appropriate place to do so. I will make sure to have better etiquette in the future.

I did not mean to come across harshly Cori..

I truly do understand how it can be difficult to know exactly where to post each bottle.. Please feel free to send me individual bottle pics. I really am more than happy to help you along here.. It is not expected of you to know all the ins and outs and etiquette or how to navigate the forum.

I apologize if I came across as if you should have known..

From a distance without closer up pics for some, here is a brief summary..

The most interesting one at a distance is the overlay.. Would be especially interested in seeing more pics of it.

I can not make out the black bottle.

Is the top part of the overlay bottle made of metal ?  Also, is that a hole I see in the side of the neck ?

I have no idea what the dark colored bottle is, except to guess it is chalcedony.

Can you post a pic for the bottom/base of the overlay bottle?

It is not well carved, but the suffused glass looks ok for a bottle with some age.

Lets see what others think .

Hi,

Not sure about the bottle but the stopper may be ivory.

Cheers,

Rube.
