Hi guys, I need again the expertise on an extensive snuff bottle production from late 19th c. to Republic. The bottles are usually decorated with green and grayish-black dragons persuing the pearl on an incised wave pattern ground.Shapes of the bottles, quality of the emailing vary much.
I join some examples.
Can somebody help me to answer the question in which region and in which decade these types were produced and whether there were regional vatiations?
Thanks in advance! Georges

Dear Georges,

The ones you've posted all seem to be from the reign of the Guangxu Emperor,
ca. 1875-1908, and from Jingdezhen, the centre of porcelain production from at latest Ming, to present.

One 'give-away' is the light green wash in the eyes [for Guangxu production].
Best,
Joey

Dear Georges,
Joy is perfectly right, agree with him.
If it is yours, I would like very much to see an enlargement of the second bottle, in particular that front face looking dragon.
Kind regards
Giovanni

Dear Giovanni,

Dear Georges,
no problem with your nice bottle, surely of the period mentioned before.
That one in the Canadian museum looks strange, the dragon is at least sloppy made, to me.
Kind regards
Giovanni

Georges,

I like these style of bottles. Does yours have any kind of mark on the base?
Thanks for posting,

Rube.
