Corks and stopper restoration

Dear George,

    The corks you feature, which are tapered, are bad in snuff bottles if one uses them 'as is'.

One needs to match the small end of the cork to the bottle opening,
then sand down the wider part till the cork is cylindrical.
That way, the cork 'grips' the interior of the bottle's neck the whole way.

If one uses a tapering cork, only a tiny percentage of the top end of the cork is gripping.
And if a person picks up the snuff bottle by the stopper, there is a good chance the bottle will fall down.
Has happened to me.

Yes, I agree 100% Joey.

Many of the pictures I took at the very beginning of this project do show the very poor cork that came with the initial inventory.

I now only use extra select grade cork from Portugal and then grind to fit.

So the end results are like these.

Exactly what I've learned from Y. F. Yang z"l and from experience is the ideal.
I would recommend these 100%.
They look better than the corks Jill & Li Hui supply - more dense and with less holes.
