Title: ICSBS Journals Post by: Angela on June 06, 2019, 01:59:29 am Hi dear all,
I registered to the ICSBS on June 4, paid the fee same day with PayPal. I can log in, but - except for the Dealers and the News sections, I cannot open the rest: most important of all, I cannot open the "Journals" in the dedicate section - only view the cover, but clicking on the Journal does not open. I have no blocks on my pc. Maybe it's too early? Should I wait some days after registration/payment? I have written to the office of ICSBS but so far the problem persists.Received a message today for charging Mr. Gary the webmaster to solve the problem but now situation unchanged. Thank you for your opinion.. Cheers - Angela. Title: Re: ICSBS Journals Post by: Peter Bentley 彭达理 on June 07, 2019, 12:54:25 am Hi Angela
The ICSBS is generally very slow to reply to a new subscription so "hang in there" for a couple of weeks or so What is your interest in joining the ICSBS ? Is it SBs "in general" - if so Joey Silver and several other long-term members of the Forum (and the ICSBS) should be your guide Joey, in particular , has a gold-mine of deep knowledge and is happy to share it Just in case your interest is particularly in Very Modern Inside - painted bottles please feel free to contact me personally . You can send me a private message , if you wish, via the confidential Forum message facility check out the tabs on the home page ) and send me your private email address, after that we can correspond Or else just post your interest on the VMIPB section of the Forum ! Simple ! Cheers Peter (Hong Kong/ China) Title: Re: ICSBS Journals Post by: Angela on June 07, 2019, 10:06:16 am Dear Peter,
thanks for your kind reply. I am interested in snuff bottles, sometimes I buy a piece following my (personal) taste, and when I can afford it. Since my first purchase at Galerie Zacke of June 2018, I immediately realized that it is necessary to have in-depth knowledge in such a complex subject - knowledge that I have not. Last december I came across the best Forum dedicated to SB! All people I met here on the Forum are exquisite I learned a lot from the good advices of you all. Moreover it is always very useful and pleasant to go back reading the old threads, very appropriately ordered by topic. For a neophyte, a sort of encyclopedia. I registered at the ICSBS because I am mainly interested to read the Journals (I cannot go to the conventions etc.) - especially the issues of past years, not easy to find. There is something wrong, I cannot open the Journals Section from my pc - but also using iPad I have tried many times but nothing. This morning I was informed by the ICSBS Office that their Webmaster is searching to solve what's wrong. I will check next days, I think you are right perhaps my new subscription is not yet finalized. Concerning the very modern inside painted, I thank you for your kindness but at present, I'm oriented towards older pieces - just for my personal taste! And recognizing that today there are exceptional modern artists, I have seen beautiful examples on http://snuffbottlecollector.com/ Cheers – Angela. Now I can enjoy all the issues of the beautiful "Journals Section" of the Snuff Bottles Society. Cheers to you and to all from Italy! Angela. Sorry, I've been sick with pneumonia, but am now on the mend. Julia, the new secretary, is much more efficient. Joey Title: Re: ICSBS Journals Post by: Angela on June 12, 2019, 03:50:51 pm Dear Angela, Dear Joey,Sorry, I've been sick with pneumonia, but am now on the mend. Julia, the new secretary, is much more efficient. Joey sorry to reply you so late. But I no longer receive Forum message alerts. Me too I am not very well at present. First of all: how are you now? It was just a small technical problem with the ICSBS website, solved immediately by the very kind Mr. Gary. I started reading the Journals, little by little because I have a low view:oh how wonderful they are! and I had a very nice communication with Ms. Berthe and Julia. Best! Angela. Title: Re: ICSBS Journals Post by: Angela on June 12, 2019, 03:57:41 pm That's good news. Enjoy the beautiful Journals! Hi dear Joe,I started reading the Journals, from the oldest issues of the 70s. It's really exciting to admire the collections and photographs of historical and famous collectors, what good times. The Journals are a great and valuable guide for any collector. Cheers Angela. Title: Re: ICSBS Journals Post by: Joey on June 13, 2019, 08:52:27 am Dear Angela,
I wish you a speedy and full recovery. You are still on my Get Well Soon prayer list. You will see a lot of photos of me if you access the convention photos - I've been going to conventions since 1978 in Hong Kong, and only missed 5! So I've been to 36 conventions so far. The articles are really wonderful, and I have the whole collection, from the first issue. A friend of my late parents of blessed memory had joined in 1968, and had all the first issues. When I joined in 1974, he gave me his copies. Best, Joey Title: Re: ICSBS Journals Post by: Angela on June 13, 2019, 12:30:56 pm Dear Joey,
thank you for keeping me in your prayer list, and for your good wishes: the same I return to you. I decided to proceed with order, reading the Journals from the oldest to the most recent, but sometimes I jump and go to browse other issues: when I'm looking for something, for example these days I am curious to know something more about jujube bottles. I bought one last month, posted in the Gem Stone Rock and Fossil section of the Forum. I would be pleased to hear your opinion. do you like it? Yes, I found photos of you, in oldest Journals, but also in recents, like the Winter 2017 - London (amazing event) I have found also a very useful article that you wrote on IP, in another issue - still to read. The Convention events are always organized at the highest levels, and in the best locations! Best – Angela.
