Dear Joey,

One bookseller based in the UK was offering free post, but I didn't want to wait till next summer to read it, so I found a cheaper book deal in the  USA, which, even with high postage, means I can get it by year's end. For the few extra dollars, it's worth not having the wait.

Tom

One shipping method I learned never to use again, was from China, called "by sea".. It took two months for some books to get here..

Thanks for the tip George. I also avoid ordering books from Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and Canada. For some reason books sent from these four places all take 2-3 months to reach Thailand.

Illogical, but true.

Guys,
Have you never heard of "a slow boat to China" ?  If they have slow boats TO China, there must be slow boats FROM China...   Wink   Grin
All former parts of the British Empire, and (except for South Africa) members of the British Commonwealth.  HMMM!
If I were an Arab, I could build a conspiracy theory out of that...  Wink   Cheesy

You mean like..... former British intelligence agents opening the books to analyze every word of the text looking for coded messages being sent to separatist guerrillas in the Thai jungle?   Grin

Tom,

Books from down-under takes a long time to reach Thailand because ( I think ) they did not do
' trans-shipment ' via our port in Singapore ! Our turnaround time is rather short !
Another reason could be the different tempo of life ?

Hello Inn Bok,

Very interesting interior bottle painting, is it a copy of a real painting?

The grain watermill is so nicely placed, the last place I looked and a pleasant surprise when I realize what it was and for supply the monastery.

Thank you for the nice Christmas gift, a gift of an interesting view.

Happy Holidays to all!

Dear Inn Bok,
I would not brag overmuch about Singapore's 'turnaround time' in shipping.  Cheesy
YT kindly sent a carton of my stuff to me in Israel via EMS. Sent on 08.Nov., it took 3+ weeks to arrive in Israel, and then 3 days to get to me through Customs. I have sent stuff to Australia from Israel and from Ireland via EMS and they were there in a week!  Wink
Best,
 Joey

Apologies for that Joey. My fault that I did not use the postal service standard boxes and instead insist on the customise box Tongue. They did charge me prices that I could easily afford FedEx as your box was quite light.

Best Regards,

Dear YT,
You've no need to apologise. It was sent 08.Nov., and should have arrived in Israel by 18.Nov., LATEST, whichever box was used.
Best,
   Joey

David,

On the inside painting of the snowy scene, the IP artists of the early 90's tended to repeat the painting styles of Classical Chinese works of mountain scenery. For the last 20 years or so, some Hebei artists ( the Ji School ) , began to break away and created their own styles.

Peter recently gave a presentation on the development of inside painting in Xi'an China.

Merry Christmas to you !
