I've been looking at this mark on the bottom of a snuff bottle for two days now.  Gone though all my resources trying to identify this mark.  Does anyone else recognize this mark or can read it?  This one just has me baffled?

Thanks for any and all ideas.  Charll

Hi Charll,

This is a seal script sign, can be read"储秀宫制( chu xiu gong zhi)" 储秀宫 means "the Palace of Gathering Excellence"  Normally the ware with this kind of seal is related with imperial ware.

I am not sure about this one, but the foot rim is not that perfect to be a imperial ware...

Would love to see the detail of the bottle:) Grin

Wow Steven, good work.  Grin  I was about to answer but was not sure about the first character.

Without looking at the rest of the bottle, it is difficult to be sure.  But I agree, I serious doubt this is imperial ware, cause the seal is quite bad.  Compare to this:

Thanks Guys!!!!!!  That was the information I needed.

Walter, especially thank you for providing the comparison mark.  I had gone though all my book references and the online porcelain mark websites, and came up with nothing.  You guys are apparently better than my reference library and the information return time is much faster too.  Grin

Your the BEST, Charll

For those that may have an interest in Blue and White landscape snuff bottles, here are some images of the bottle with the mark "the Palace of Gathering Excellence" that start of this post.
My feeling is that this is a contemporary bottle (1950-present), but I just love the subject matter and design.  Falls in line with a number of other bottles I've posted from my collection.

Nice one Charll..

Very pretty mountain/landscape..

I know there are any number of possible landscape scences this bottle could match up to.. I was browsing through some paintings, and this one with similar three buildings sort of stuck out a bit..

Charll,
The bottle is stunningly beautiful. Dating? From the painting, I'd have said 1890-2010; from the mark, 1990-2010.
When I wrote "I'm impressed.Joey",  it was over Walter's & Steven's knowledge of seal marks and their context.
Now, I'm impressed because the bottle is truly beautiful, not at all what I'd expect in a contemporary blue and white porcelain snuff bottle.
  Well done, Charll!
