Now that I have everything listed and scheduled for eBay, want to share my favorite of the ones that I just got in the mail..

It's a keeper ..

Some help with the script would be great..

This is the very first IP bottle I have ever had with script within the base !

I have seen a couple, and even a couple with paintings here before..

The seller either did not know, or did not care.. Because it was completely covered with tape..

Hi George,

I spent more than 2 hours go through anything I can think of and try to find out the artist, with no luck so far:(

The inscript can be read" writing poem and painting on the donkey back while crossing Ba bridge, painted by 李变(li bian)?( not sure I am right) in 1978.

The reversed side can be read" zi Juan, the lady from the story of the stone, painted in 1978.

I am pretty sure its a modern bottle, and I like the donkey side painting too( not so into the lady scene myself)Smiley

I am also pretty sure this artist's last name is 李(li), not sure the first name. went through Bill's site and Peter's DB, nothing seems even close.

Sorry that I can't help more.

I forgot to add..

I also like the donkey side, and like you.. , not so much the lady painting.

Were you able to make out any part of the script on the base ?  Don't spend a lot of time on it.. Just curious if you can make anything out of any of the charactors, or of course the entire script if possible..

Painted in the autumn of 1978 by "bian"?  On the bottom..

It would  be a bottle from the shangdong school.

Actually the base sign you mentioned remind me that bottle as well.

Not sure if there is any connection between those two, could be a shangdong artist, I never saw any bottle painted from Jing school with a sign on the bottom.

-Walter, Can you help on this one?

Both of these bottles signed within the base came from the guy ( Bob ) who dropped in telling of his Father in Laws bottles that went up for auction..

So very likely a connection..

Bob had originally offered to provide provinance, documents, and original receipts to me should I win any of the bottles.  I have sent him a couple of emails, and never heard back..

When I compare the script on the sides of both of these bottles, they seem very similar in style, but just not so sure I can say the same for the script on the base.  The artist that painted the donkey bottle seems to have done a little better caligraphy than the other one.

The seals do not match between the two bottles, and the artist for the donkey bottle took the time to add a seal, where the crane/floral bottle artist did not...

Not sure any of that even means anything at all, but as a new collector, I find the script added to the base an interesting and for me, a rare feature..  Seems these two bottle could share a common origin/school ?

Hi George,

I agree with you, and both of the bottle was painted about the same period.

Hmm, but how come we can't find a clue about the artist?
