Charll has sort of peaked my interest in carved bottles.. Bottles that I had previously not really been attracted to.

I especially liked your recently shared squirl bottle Charll..

There are a couple of Sea Pod type bottles that would like to know if either or both are genuinely old, and carved or molded.

Can see more pics at the eBay listing for this one.

And more pics for this one..

George,
I don't know what a 'seapod; is, but that ain't it. That is a representation of a folded lotus leaf, with some stalks , a lotus bud (in pink) and a 'salt-shaker' seed-pod. The lotus flower produces a seed-pod, which looks like a salt-shaker, hence the name. Compare with #53 in my 1987 catalogue, in monochrome glazed soft paste porcelain. I also had the mate to it (perfect match one to one) in carved Ivory, contemporary to it (ca.1790s-1820s).
  Best, Shabbat Shalom, Joey
