Hi All,
I came across this ornate antique snuff bottle.  I believe it to be made of brass and not silver.  However it has a mark on the bottom.  I couldn't find many examples of Chinese Silver marks, perhaps someone here will know something about this mark.  I have included a picture of the bottle and the mark. Click link to view large image. Thanks!

It will take me a while to research this one. Unless someone else jumps in with info for you sooner, will be back once I find something out for you.  Smiley

It did not take me long to realize that what your seeing is most likely a Makers mark/stamp. A stamp created by the silversmith/metalsmith that references the piece and work to him/her. I am about 99.9% sure..

Sure looks like silver to me though..

I agree. It does look like it would be a shops stamp.

I have a friend that makes jewelry. She marks all her work with a stamp that represents her shop.

This one looks a little more elaborate than most I have seen. But would agree that it looks like somebody's stamp.

Looks silver to me too George.

Well after hunting a bit, all I accomplished was to stumble onto this same bottle listing on eBay !

I just could not find anything online at all with this same symbol on the base.

Give this site a try. For what ever reason 99% of the images will not show up for me. My browser ? Not sure.

Maybe your computer will open up the 99% that I am not able too.

I do have it currently listed on Ebay.  My aunt whose down in Palm Beach thought it might be something special, so I figured I would do some more research on the mark.
