Took a chance on this 2" tall agate from eBay.. It is ok, but has a couple of uneven carved flat spots..

Ended up putting it back on eBay.. Will make someone else plenty happy. Not a bad bottle by any means.  Actually, almost decided to keep it.. Just sort of picky when it comes to adding carved bottles to the collection.

I like the shape, and it really does feel good in hand.  Smiley

Have been itching to share something on here, so here it is..

Nice one though George.  This would have been a keeper for me.  But of course I am going based on pics only.

Thanks Pat..

Honestly, the more I have been looking at it, and holding it  Wink , am having second thoughts about selling it.  Thinking just may end up pulling it off auction and keeping it. ..

I think you should.  It is a wise choice... We don't see bottles like this often.   I have totally stopped looking for non-IPB now.  At one point I will sell off all the rest except special glass, rock crystal, agate and jade.

If you thought this an old bottle George, sorry to disabuse you of the notion. It is modern. If you want to keep it as a contemporary example, work away.

The weird thing is, when I first looked at the photos, I thought it was a 'skin jade'. Then I looked closer, and realised I'd been wrong. But the work is still not early.

I think it is pretty old..

The way it is carved leads me to believe it was carved with out the aid of electricity/modern electrical tools..

I know it is not a tell tale sign, but does also have China etched into the base.

George, I'm prepared to be convinced. Bring it to Portland in Oct., with the crizzled 'ZLY'. We'll have fun looking at your snuff bottles as well as dealers' stuff.
