Hi  George

Looks   like  甲 寅 年    冬 日  作

=  made in    Jia  Yin  Year winter   time

Jia Yin    year  =    1854 /  1914/  1974

But  no artist  name, just a  red  chop

Any second  opinion  ( Richard    ??)  ?

Cheers   Peter

Hi Peter, George & Pat

Could also be Jia Shen which correspond to 1944/2004

The calligraphy quality is quite poor in my opinion.

Regards.

I agree on the terrible calligraphy.  I doubt 1944, as I can not imagine IPB being painted during wartime, but it is of course a possibility. This is an example of the poor quality glass used after WW II up unil after the cultural revolution that I referred to many times.  I will stick with 1974.

The reason I am asking is to determine why the painting is so dark, or just poor pics taken..

No, these are the best the seller could do apparently..

I really think he is asking to much for it.. He had wanted 150.00, and dropped that to 100.00, but I am just not really that excited about this one.

Another thing I thought of is that IF it was 1914, the use of bright Yellow paint is extremely rare in the early middle period.  In fact, I cant recall any example at all ever.
