The Princeton Borough Police Department, Princeton, NJ,  has asked that The Art Museum,Princeton University disseminate the following information to the museum and art communities.

The following individual was arrested on 26 June 1998 at The Art Museum, Princeton University and charged with the theft of a valuable 18th century Chinese snuff bottle:


Roland Soleiman Yazhari
No known address
Date of birth: 4/1/65
Social Security # 541 94 7489
White Male 33 years old 5'7" 175 lbs. Black hair/brown eyes

Mr. Yazhari is also under investigation for the previous theft of two
other Chinese snuff bottles from The Art Museum, Princeton University,
which were subsequently sold at auction in Hong Kong.

Mr. Yazhari is of Iranian descent and has former addresses in Hong
Kong, New York City, Oregon, and Massachusetts.  He is an extensive
world traveler and is familiar with the art community worldwide.  He
is suspected of committing other thefts and/or frauds at art museums,
universities, auction houses, etc.

The authorities suggest that museums and collectors of Chinese snuff
bottles that have been visited by Mr. Yazhari may wish to inventory
their holdings.
