Hi,

I'm sharing a yellow glass bottle with greenish hue and hoping that someone can help me with its age?
It measures 1 11/16" w/o tourmaline stopper, isn't very well hollowed, and has a concave lip.
Unfortunately, it's glued to the wood base, so I can't provide a picture of the foot.
It was purchased in Singapore around 1960, and I was originally thinking it to be 1920-60, due to its level of hollowing, but because of the short stature, maybe it's older?  Any help is greatly appreciated, and I hope y'all have a great weekend!

Cheers,

Rube.

Dear Rube,

I don't know why, but I think it is ca. 1950-1960.
But I could be wrong.
Best,
Joey

Hi Rube,

Thanks for sharing. The shape looks convincing. If it was slightly larger, better hollowed, and made of hardstone, it might even be dated to 1780-1860. But I'm with Joey on its dating.

Dear Rube,

I disagree with Tom over the size. The size would be  fine if the quality of hollowing etc., were there.
In fact, I owned 2 bottles that size that had been personal property of the Qianlong Emperor, and still have one.
Best,
Shabbat Shalom,

Joey and Tom,

I appreciate your comments.  I was pretty sure the lack of hollowing led to a later date, but not sure about the size.  I always thought smaller  was typically older?  And I wasn't sure about the way the sides are flat.  I was thinking a more prominently tapered bottle would indicate more age as well?

Cheers,

Rube.
