Hi Everybody,

I'm sharing another bottle with you today.  Measuring 2 11/16" w/o stopper, I'm calling this a famille rose molded porcelain bottle. It has a nice ivory spoon, and was full of snuff (not that that means anything) but it has a fair amount of wear, so I'm thinking maybe Guangxu or Republic?  Any help with the dating is greatly appreciated! In particular, I'd like to know about the shape and how it relates to dating:  taller, and more slender portends later dating?

Have a great weekend!

Rube.

Dear Rube,

Please ask Giovanni. He's better at porcelains than I.
Best,
Joey

Dear Rube,
if I look at the side with the peony, I would say that it is of the Republic period. But the petals of the chrysanthemum have a thick enamel, with some blistering which is typical of an earlier period.
It could even be Tongzhi. My thought that it should be dated Tongzhi – Guangxu.
The tall foot too is pointing toward an old bottle I think.
Kind regards
Giovanni
