Hi all,
I need your help with this bottle I bought at a local antique shop. I liked it because it seems to be well carved and very well hollowed out, but what material is it and how would you date it? Height is 5.9 cm.
Thank you once again,
Matthias

Dear Mat, it looks jade, but which is the reason for (closest to the original color"? Color is important! Why can't you set the White Balance of the camera and take the pictures as they should be?
Kind regards
Giovanni

Dear Giovanni, thank you and sorry for the bad pictures, I put better ones (I hope) in my original post. I assumed this bottle to be Jade but I am really not very good with stones.

Dear Mat,

I agree with Giovanni - it looks to be a very fine white nephrite Jade, ca. 1760-1820.
But the bluish tinge makes it hard to be sure.
If you could re-photograph it on a white background and on a gray background, that would help us judge better, in my opinion.
Best,
Joey

Thank you very much, Joey!
Here is the bottle on a white background. It has a slightly greenish hue, as you can see. I have no pictures on grey in the moment, I will post them later...
Best, Matthias

Mat,

You could also test the bottle's specific gravity using a simple kitchen scale.

Cheers,

Rube.

Thank you Rube, I will do, I just have to get a new scale, mine is old fashioned and not exact enough.

I agree, it looks like jade.
If it didn't have the greenish tinge, and was ultra-white, I'd have said it could possibly be cryptocrystalline quartzite. But Charll is the real expert on stones.

Dear Tom, thank you! I do not think it is quartzite but likely indeed nephrite Jade as you all say...
Best,
Matthias

Nice simple bottle with clean lines, I like it!  Yes I think it is nephrite also.
