Greetings,

I'd like to get your opinions on this bottle.  Probably not Bi Rongjui but I thought I'd ask?  All I know is that it was purchased in 1927.

Cheers,

Rube.

Hi Rube,

I have a few unsigned bottles that were probably by the same artist.

Regards, Adrian.

Dear Rube,

It looks like early Shandong style, so why not put down 'School of Bi Rongjiu'? Another option is Bi Baosan, BRJ's elder son, who also painted.
BRJ died in 1925, but this could have been painted before, and not signed, since it was sold after BRJ had died.
Other possibilities are Zhang Wentang and Zhao Yuting, both students of BRJ.
Best,
Joey

Joey,

Thanks for the information regarding Bi Rongjiu, his son, and other students. He’s an artist I know little about, and would like to research more.

Cheers,
Rube
