I bought a small lot of bottles at auction recently, one of which matches the subject of another overlay I have which allows a side by side comparison which highlights differences between the two.

The taller one is 67mm the other 57mm. Both have a flat foot to the base glass as opposed to the foot following what would be a natural curve for the bottle. It's more likely that the bottles were flattened on their foot while still pliable and before being carved.

Whilst the quality of carving on the taller bottle is good it is shown up by the shorter bottle in fineness of detail, smoothness of the base glass and lack of tooling marks and level of polish.

Regards, Adrian.

Adrian,

Another informative comparison, of nice bottles.
I especially like the wide mouth on the shorter bottle.

Cheers,

Rube.

Adrian.

A very interesting comparison, it's always informative to see two similar bottles side buy side. My only comment is has the bottle on the left been to the Christmas party as It appears to have a slight list to the left, or is that down to camera angle?

Kind regards Jas.

Hi Jas,

The left hand bottle is a recovering alcoholic and hasn't touched a drop in the last three years so it is camera angle that is to blame and not a case of it having fallen off the wagon in the run up to Christmas.

Regards, Adrian.

And they were seen hanging out with others, one decidedly fishy and one who had something of the Midas touch about them.

There was also an ox, a goat and a horse there.

Quite a party !

I don't wish to be a party pooper  but I don't think Dragons are animals, they are mythical beasts.  Roll Eyes Grin

I hope you didn't book through Weripuoff Tours as my Aunt and Uncle booked through them and didn't see a single dragon. They booked the add on Yeti spotting trip as well and had no luck with that either.

I need to apologise to you all. Embarrassed I've realised  I did see a member of the dragon family when I was in my 30s many years ago. Roll Eyes I went to the Komodo island and saw the dragons there, I actually bought a goat from the local village people (not YMCA) to feed them. ( I will try and find the photos ). I went with the holiday company  Explore highly recommended if you like that sort of thing. Grin Wink
