Not many posts happening currently so I thought I would post a bottle I bought a while ago for which the artist was not identified in the auction.

Having just bought "A new look of Chinese inside painted snuff bottles" I believe it is by Wang Qian who is a student of Wang Xisan and became a director of the Ji studio.

Regards, Adrian.

Adrian,
Sure looks like it to me! His quirky expressive style seems quite unique. I like it! (I’ve been enjoying that book too, it’s a nice reference.)
Cheers,
Rube

Hi Adrien

I don’t have any Wang Qian bottle, and have never study his painting in detail before.... but I don’t think the bottle is by him IMO.... although it’s signed off in his name.

Dear Adrian,

Thank you for sharing a very nice bottle, this is his early bottle, the painting is not so mature, I have one about the same time from Wang qian as well. pretty much same painting style and quality with this one, I will share it late .

Best,

Steven

Adrian,

I especially like the beast pulling on the earring!
Pin,
One of Wang Qian's apprentice was Li Yingtao.  Do you ever come across any of his bottles?  The few I've seen referenced are quite nice.
Cheers,

Rube.

Thank you all for your comments.

I don't especially like the way he paints his people but at the same time he manages to give them each their own personality and it is a quirky style. He did paint in other styles which I prefer.

Regards, Adrian.
