The more I examine this bottle the more I like it.

The auction house dated it 1820-1880 but I think it may be earlier and somewhere 1740-1820 ? I'm going earlier because the quality of the carving and polishing, especially in the lack of any tool marks on the base colour which have been polished out even in the smallest recesses.

The face on picture I showed is the male Chi, with a tuft of hair and a beard ! The Chi on the other side, which you can see in the picture showing the base of the bottle, is the female without a tuft of hair or beard. The baby Chi is around the base and has no legs which identify it as a baby and is on the same side as the female Chi.
