Dear Luke,
Well done, thank you for posting that reference.
Dear Rube, in my first post in this thread I said that you have an antique and superb bottle, and I am even more convinced now. You have a Museum grade bottle.
For an easier comparison, I am posting a picture of the V&A and Rube’s bottles, although we do not have a better picture of Rube’s bottle.
Kind regards
Giovanni

Dear Giovanni, Thanks for taking the time to show us that really useful comparison. Rubes bottle is indeed a very good bottle,  and they could have even been done by the same hand. However I would suggest he or she had improved and matured by the time the museum bottle had be completed. Look at the difference and quality of the carps feelers. Similarly the waves are less stiff and seem to be more fluid due to a slightly different curvature  and an extra line cut in on the curving tip. Thanks for sharing.

Regards Jason.

Dear Giovanni,

While I agree there are similarities between the two I agree with Jason in that I can see a higher quality in the work on the V and A bottle which is dated up to the early 20th Century and not displayed.

The scales are more rounded as are the fish bodies generally, the fins are thinner, the eyes have more detail and the waves have more of a three dimensional sense to them. Both examples seem quite simplistic to me but they may have been intentionally done that way.

Regards, Adrian.

Hi everyone,
I’m kinda away from things at present, but wanted to take this opportunity to chime in.
Thanks For all the comments and continued analysis regarding this bottle. Luke, thanks so much for posting the recent example for comparison. It gives me great hope!
Cheers,
Rube
