Hi all

It is a sad news to announce the passing of a fellow local collector, Mr Joseph Grimberg, age 84.

I know Joe since the 1980's and visit his home frequently in the 90's to attend to his IT needs.

He is a good friend and always willing to share his knowledge and experience in collecting.

He has a collection of around 100 bottles and he has them displayed on customised cabinets on the wall in his apartment.

He had sold his collection thru Sotheby's New York in 2010.

May he rests in peace.

Hi Richard,

That's a sad and sudden news.

I'd just recently been reading about Joe and came to know that apart from being an enthusiastic snuff bottle collector, he has also been a prominent figure in the sphere of law in Singapore.

His passing is certainly a great loss to the snuff bottle collecting community. I wish I had the chance to know him, a man and a collector of such great character.

May he rest in peace and may G-D comfort his family and friends in this moment of grief.

Dear Richard,

Thank you. I did not know that Joe z"l had passed away.
Baruch Dayan Emet (Bless G-D, The True Judge).

Joe had been a good friend, and after first meeting him in 1978 at Magain Avoth Synagogue on Shabbat while praying, I visited his home in 1981, and after; I would meet him at conventions, till 2009 I think.

I was not able to attend his auction in NYC, sabotaged by a certain dealer, since Joe spurned his advances to 'curate' Joe's sale; Joe's response had been,"My collection's quality speaks for itself". It should have, if that shameful person, unduly respected in my opinion in the ICSBS, had not behaved disgustingly and badmouthed a superb collection owned by a truly honest, ethical and kind man, hurting him financially and insulting his good name.

And I believe that Joe stopped attending conventions at least partially, because of that behavior by that person.

May Joseph Grimberg's memory be for a blessing, and may his family know no more sorrow.
Best,
Joey
