Hi All,

I am not sure what this snuff bottle made of and the age of it. It looks like it made of amber to me. Does any one know what it made of?

Thank you,

Ming

Dear Ming,

If it is amber, a simple specific gravity test will tell. My amber bottle floats in water (with no salt in it) in fact I have a hard time making it sink.
Here's a link on how to do this simple test:

So do the test and report back your findings Wink

I agree with George that it looks like agate.
The stopper is lovely!

Hi Cathy,

It is kind of heavy so it may not made of amber.

Ming

Hi George,

Yeah, I was thinking about that too, but just not sure. Any idea the age of it?
