Love it too!  If you decide to part with it let me know!  It could join my jade purse bottle.   All aside, great bottle and thanks so much for sharing.  I had not seen a crystal example.  Enjoy!  Jo

Hi Rube,

That is an exquisite little bottle! Thanks for sharing. I agree with Joey on the dating range. This type of purse-shaped bottle is usually made from white nephrite jade. This is the first time I have seen one in clear rock crystal.

Dear Tom,

The late Y.F. Yang had one (a purse-shaped SB in quartz) in his personal collection, better hollowed than this example, and he dated it to the period 1750-1820. Which is why I dated Rube's later.

Is there no example in Bob Stevens' book or his Mikimoto catalogue?
I thought there was.
Best,
Joey

Thanks for your comments everyone! I'm glad to know about the dating, especially since it doesn't exhibit great hollowing.
Jo, it would look nice next to your fine purse! Unfortunately it's not mine to part with.
Joey, you're right about Bob Stevens: #463.
Cheers,
Rube

Dear Joey,

I had overlooked that one!

Dear Rube,

It is well hollowed. It is just not as well hollowed as those from the earlier period. But it is a fine example of its period.
Best,
joey
