Dear Members,

I just acquired a new Yong Shoutian bottle to add to my collection. It is rather large, almost 5 inches in height. Some of the artwork is more faded than I would like, but I think it is still a nice piece.

I believe it depicts Cao Cao fighting Ma Chao possibly at Tong Pass as it appears warriors are charging down out of the mountains.

I think this is an authentic YST (not student or false signature) probably painted c. 1900-1920. Any thoughts?

Thank you,

Brian

My vote is still Yong Shoutian and yes to about 1910/1920's..

That is quite large indeed at 5 inches.

Congratulations !

Hi Brian,

Every detail is as per my signed Yong Shoutian. You would have thought he would have got bored of painting them as they are so similar.

This isn't an easy thing to say but at 5" yours is bigger than mine, a mere 4".  Cry

Regards, Adrian.

Yes, Adrian. But you are British...  Roll Eyes Grin

I prefer smaller bottles, myself.  Quality tends to be better. Wink

Brian

I confirm this is a genuine Yong Shoutian. Congrats ,... huge bottle though .. don't be put off by size . Some of these larger IP bottles are actually the only ones I have for display now. The largest bottles I have are 2 Amber rectangular shaped medicine bottles that are between 5.5 and 6 inches tall. They are posted here somewhere. One word of advice DO NOT buy these if you think you will sell them for a profit some day. Most purist collectors don't like them but then I am not ...

I got the bottle today. I noticed there is some faint writing. Is there a year? Looks like possibly year Gui Hai 1923.

Thank you,

Brian
