Kim Green from the ICSBS passed away this morning DC time (Saturday, 21.Jan.2017).
She was an amazing lady, 5 years younger than me, and will be sorely missed by all her many friends in the ICSBS and out of it.

Just a couple of days after returning home to Alexandria from the LA ICSBS convention, she entered the hospital with stomach pains. Then they took out her gall bladder. Then it was something else. Then she was admitted to Johns Hopkins in Baltimore MD. Where she died.

  May Her Memory Be Blessed.

Hi Joey

That is so sudden and shocking.

Although I have met her before, the recent Convention was where I get to know her better.

Prayers and thought go to her family.

Dear Samson,

She not only had a charming personality, but was a really good person, a real 'Eishet Chayil' (Woman of Valour, See Proverbs 31: 10-31).
Thank you,
Joey

Dear Steven,

Thank you. She was about 5 years younger than me, so about 20 years older than you.
She and Jim never had children, sadly.

You are right, of course. We all must take care of ourselves.
Best,
Joey

Dear Joey,

I too never had occasion to meet her, although the name is familiar of course. I am sorry for the loss to you and others who were close to her.

Best,
Tom

Dear Inn Bok,

Thank you for your kind words.  I will mention to Jim Pastorick, her grieving husband, all the Forum members who sent condolences.

I am so very sad about Kim.  She and Jim have been so good to us since we joined the ICSBS in 2011.  Her upbeat personality and encouraging nature will be missed by all who knew her.  I can hardly imagine meetings of the ICSBS or Northern VA Group without her.  Please hold Jim up in prayer as you think of them.  I am too sad to say anything else, except she will be greatly missed by all who knew her.   Jo

To all on the Forum,

This is the message I just got from Clare Chu, re.Kim & Jim (How I've always thought of the late Kim Green z"l and Jim Pastorick):

Dear friends,
Thank you for all of your heartfelt emails - a sign of how much we all cared about Kim.

Jim is back home in Alexandria, and wants to be left alone for the time being. A good friend and colleague of Kim's, Gail Charnley and I are in regular touch with him. He has asked us to organize a memorial service as he is not able to right now. We have decided with Jim's agreement that it will be held in the Springtime, because we all think that is what Kim would have wanted. It is also possible, because Kim has some elderly relatives on the West Coast, that we may hold two memorials, one on each coast. If that happens I will try to have it on April 16th, the day after the Joint Meeting (I realize it is Easter Day - apologies). I will let you all know as soon as I have any concrete news.

On a more delicate note (and I'm sorry I don't really know how to put this), Kim's remains are with a funeral director in Alexandria pending cremation (in accordance with her wishes). There will be no funeral service at this time. As the wife of a veteran, Kim's ashes can be placed in a special cemetery in Arlington, but Jim has not yet decided about that. There will be a website set up by the funeral director where you can post condolences, and I will let you know as soon as that can be accessed.

Jim's wish is that, in lieu of flowers, donations in Kim's name be made either to our Society (ICSBS) or to a charity supporting a cure for leukemia.

Thank you all, I will be in touch shortly,

In peace,
Clare
