Hi All.

Thought I would share my latest purchases which came from Bill of the Snuff Bottle Collector site.

Lu Yanhong was born in 1980 and initially studied normal art before starting IP in 2001 being tutored by Li Shouxun at his school in Hengshui. She doesn't seem to have painted for long as she left to care for her sick mother and after her mother passed away she got married and gave up painting.

Regards all, Adrian.

Oh thanks for sharing this artist. I think I have seen her work before and it seemed very much like Wang Xisan. Was she a student of his?

Outstanding bottles Adrian !  Congratulations.. !

I visit Bill's site often to see what new bottles he may have... I have had my eye on one of his cultural revolution bottles for quite some time.  One of these days I hope to purchase it from him..

Any way, wonderful bottles and thank you for sharing !

Hi Cathy,

I see what you mean in the Wang Xisan bottles being similar. Whether she saw his bottles and they inspired her I don't know. There's only a limited amount of information on her, probably because she painted for a limited time.

Hi George,

I don't seem to get a recent update on Bills site. The bottles for sale are the same as they have been for a while. Very useful site though in terms of examples and information on recent/current artists.

I also bought a Jin Huijie bottle from him and came close to buying a portrait bottle of Einstein from an artist who's name I can't recall.

Thank you both, Adrian.

Yes Adrian, your right about not being any new bottles for sale for quite some time. I still keep looking !  But there is one bottle I have my eye on.

I will share a similar bottle I have with you.

With the help of Steven, Richard, Peter, and Inn Bok, I learned it is signed by an artist real name, or art name that so far I can find no record of.. An artist that in this case is of a much higher caliber than a student. Perhaps not that of a Master, but not far from it.. These painted bronze vessels are signed Zhang Yu, and also signs off as, "Master of the Fine Craft Studio" ( 精艺轩主人 ) which I learned means nothing more than it came from a small, maybe even a one person studio. It is not dated, but estimated as recent as ten years.

Hi George,

Love your bottle. It seems to be a Chinese thing to paint important antiques, I've seen it in normal paintings as well as in Su embroidery and it's just about the object. A Western version would be different, any vase would be stuffed full of flowers and no doubt there would be a bunch of grapes in the picture somewhere.

Regards, Adrian.
