Hey friends,
I found this collection of four snuff bottles in a Spanish auction House; How you know I’m not an expert about these items and by this I want your opinion.
I see that the stopper  don’t have  the same size than the bottle, and it doesn’t like me.

Thanks,
Albert.

Please remember that the rules do not let us tell anything about items still up on the auction block..

I will make an exception, but please know the above link..

The only one that I like is the far right .. But I can not confirm it is amber or glass imitating amber.  If it is amber, then a nice bottle, if glass, not as much but still appealing.

Hello George,

I’m improving my english, and maybe I don’t understand all the things that you say very well; Use a simple words is better for me.
I have understod that you can not say anything to me about the price, but I want to know information about the items, like if they are really old, if you think that are beautifull, and other interesting characteristis like these.

Can I ask this, or even it is forbiden?

Indeed, I not going to buy these items, because are expensive for me, I only want to know things of them.

Albert.

Albert,

Yes you are OK in asking the above type questions with bottles at auction.  So here is my opinion (going left to right), but it is difficult to confirm material of each bottle in this group just from photos.

1) Imitation cinnabar.  Bad resin bottle not worth collecting.

2) Black glass with golden flecks.  Attractive, collectable maybe, but not old.  Date from 1975 to recently made.

3) Red glass(?).  But could be a red resin bottle.  The mouth of the bottle were the stopper sets has a typical appearance of resin.  Does not appear to be old.

4) Amber imitation (?).  I suspect it too is a contemporary resin bottle.  Likely not very old.

I would say none of these bottles are worth collecting as judged solely by the photos.

Hope this helps, Charll

Hello rpfstoneman,

I'm happy with your answer, because I'm thinking some similar about the different bottles. But I hesitated, because these are sold in a  auction house and the description says they are made from stone.
And another think that I don't like are the stoppers, they look like simple and bad worked.

Dear Charll,
in my opinion, to give on a public Forum opinions about items on sale should be avoided. There are many possible implications.
Suppose, just for making an example, that the item on sale is from a member, and suppose that another member gives a wrong opinion on the item which indeed is a good one. Not fair.
Besides that, there are also much worst implications related with commercial issues.
Kind regards
Giovanni

I agree with Giovanni that discussion on this board should be limited to bottles that are not for sale. The Gotheborg site has good rules about commercial intent. While their rules might be a little too strict, I do think these two rules should apply to our board:

1. Do not post any items on this Board for the sole purpose of gaining information about something that you just intend to sell.

3. Do not to post anything for discussion that you have not yet bought.
