Dear Giovanni,
The only 'Author' I know of who has never been wrong is G-D!
And even HIS 'copywriters' made mistakes, occasionally...
(All the descriptions of camels with Abraham & Isaac in Genesis, ca.1850-1800 BCE (BC), are false; the first camels are known in West Asia (ie., Persia westward) from ca.1000-950 BCE, the time of Kings David & Solomon. This is Hebrew Bible (Christian Old Testament).
In the New Testament, the description of Calvary ["...which is called in the Hebrew GOLGOTHA..."],
is patently false, since, while Aramaic and Hebrew are related languages, 'golgotha' is in the first, while it would be 'golgolet' in Hebrew. Obviously, G-D Doesn't make mistakes; someone decided to 'improve' on the Christian Holy Text. ).
The late Bob Stevens gave the best most up-to-date information he could find in 1976. We've learnt quite a bit since then. Thank G-D. But his honour is assured, as a great early collector and scholar.
Best,
Shabbat Shalom, Happy New Month of Shevat, and
GONG CI FA CAI / GUNG HEE FAT CHOY (Putonghua/Cantonese)
Joey
Thank you dear Joey, it is important to know that, because everybody can fail, even a real expert can have a wrong opinion. This is often not considered, especially when a not worldwide known expert has the courage of contesting the opinion of an expert. "Who are you for contesting XXX?". Sometimes it is worth to do.
Kind regards
Giovanni
