Hi Marcos,

How large is the bottle? Whalebone tends to be large, very fibrous and dense pieces. If whalebone, it would also probably be only one solid carved piece. I also don't believe the Japanese made snuff bottles except for some rare instances where they decorated Chinese blanks to sell back to China. I also don't believe the Chinese would have had much access to whale bone unless it was purchased from whalers in the north Pacific.
