Dear all,

It's been some time since I last posted a bottle in my collection. This time, I'm sharing with you this modern enamelled glass bottle that I acquired before I joined the forum. Hope you all like it.

Best wishes,
Samson

Hi Samson and Richard,

I like this kind of bottle too. All very attractive to me.

Hopefully we will start to see more artists signing their own names to these works. Some of them are, in my opinion, equal in quality to the ones produced during the Qianlong reign (but with far more attractive prices!).   Grin

Tom

Samson and Richard,

Beautiful bottles all.  Thanks for sharing these quality art pieces.  I too have a couple such (new) enamel on glass bottles I would like to eventually share.  Thanks for thread start.  It may motivate me to get these bottles photographed and cataloged.

Dear Samson,

I love your bottle. It is, as Tom rightly points out, as finely done as the Qianlong originals. And at a much better price! But the style is so refined and elegant. I don't like crowded, 'claustrophobia-inducing' designs.

If I've one complaint, it is that, when I tap on the picture, it gets so big I can't see the whole bottle on my screen (21.5 inches).

Best,
Joey

Dear all,

Thanks! I'm glad that you like it! It's always nice to know you have something in your collection that is appreciated by fellow collectors as well... Cheesy

Thinking back, I just relied on my own feelings when I bought this bottle, I simply thought it looked pretty and I really liked the floral design and the color which appeared to be so fine and subtle. It was described as an enamel on glass bottle. However, back then I did not really know what enamel on glass was. I did some search and found imperial samples being sold at astronomical prices. This gave me the false idea that this type of artefacts, whether old or new, must be far beyond the price range I could reach. Although I was convinced from the beginning that mine was modern, I had quite some doubt on whether it was a genuine enamel on glass considering the price I got it for. As I learned more about this kind of snuff bottle later on, it turned out that my initial understanding was not true, and I'm happy about it.

I purposely removed the stopper for the photo shoot as I feel that it doesn't really go along well with the bottle itself. Indeed, it looks much nicer without it... Roll Eyes

Dear Richard,

Your pair of enamel on glass butterflies bottles by Master Yu look beautiful and one of a kind! I like it very much too! As Tom said, hopefully, more and more artists will start to sign their own names to their works. Many of them possess such superb craftsmanship that they deserve to make their fame!

Dear Charll, we look forward to appreciating your collection of enamel on glass bottles!

Dear Joey,

I will try to minimize the pics further so that you get to see the whole bottle on your screen! Working on it! Grin

Best,
Samson

Dear Samson,

       PERFECT!
What is the diameter of the bottle's mouth? I am sure I have a stopper which will enhance the bottle.
Best,

I am excited to see some student signed bottles as well...

What I especially like about Samson's bottle is the enamel.. I do not care for modern enameled bottles where the enamel ends up "heaped" as compared to the enamel on this bottle which is like Early Qianlong painted bottles, where the enamel is some how different so as to be completely flat to the bottle after firing..

Yes, George, I agree with you. I also prefer the more delicately enamelled and also 'generously spaced' style of early Qianlong enamelling, following on from that style in the Yongzheng period just before. The famous Yongzheng enamelled porcelain wine-cups come to mind as good examples of this style in the prior reign (1723-1735) of Qianlong's father.
And this modern bottle shares that style.
Best,
Shabbat Shalom,
Joey

Dear Samson,

You have a choice of four stoppers:
1. coral Glass, carved as a qilong
2. pale pinkish-orange plain Coral
3. plain Lapis
4. pale green with darker veins plain Jadeite

Whichever one you prefer I will glue onto a black onyx collar, and I can fit the cork and bamboo spoon, if
you let me know the measurement of the mouth.
Best,
Joey

Dear all,

Here's a new look of my enamel on glass bottle after I had the beautiful coral glass chilong stopper Joey brought me fitted on it. I have to say, what a perfect match! It's like a puzzle finally gets its last missing piece and it's now completed! Wink Many thanks Joey!

Best,
Samson

Dear Samson,

My pleasure. When trying to match up a stopper to your bottle, I wanted to bring out the accent of the coral-coloured flowers.
But I was shocked to see that there was the same coral colour in the decoration around the neck, brought out in the last posted view, from above. When I looked at the bottle without enlarging, the coral flowers stood out. The coral in the neck surround did not.

   Best,
Joey

Thanks Pat!

Dear Joey,

By "decoration around the neck/coral in the neck", did you mean the object depicted in the pic below? So in your opinion is it a good thing that the said decoration around the neck appears to be in "low profile" in comparison with the coral flowers?

Best,
Samson
