Dear Members,

I am thinking about purchasing a couple bottles from this collection for sale. Sorry for the large size picture. The first two look like 1930s-1940s Liu Qiao, not particularly well decorated. The other four I don't know. This is a private sale, not an auction. I am trying to get some more detailed pics of each bottle.

Thank you,

Brian

Dear Brian,

The second last looks like a big Yan Yutian bottle to me.
Best,
Joey

Hi Brian,

All the bottle were from same period , around 30-40s shandong bottles, nothing very exciting, but if you want to keep one or two for your collections, I would say the 2nd and 3rd one you might consider, they are signed and in good condition. I won't  keep it if the condition is not good  for this level of the bottle. And don't pay too much.

Happy hunting!

Steven

Dear Brian,

I agree with Steven that you will not want too many of these in your collection. Once your collection quality builds up, these will go to the storeroom.

Cheers,
YT

Dear Brian,

In your second batch of photos, all of a sudden the blues are very dominant in the bottle I'd thought was Yan Yutian. So I think I was wrong about it, and would go with Steven and YT.
Best,
Joey

I'm not an expert by any means but I think you might want to pass and put your money on some better bottles.  Focus on finding one really beautiful one and then go for it!   Jo

I agree with what Steven said...  I do like those four panel type of old medicine bottles.. But the court maidens are such a common motif, and the other is not so well painted..

Dear Brian,

     I agree with Jo.

Save up your money till LA, and come to the Beverly Wilshire, and I am happy to arrange to get you into the Dealers' room. Possibly Charll, Jo and YT (and Donna &  David of course if they attend),  etc. (anyone else attending?), can meet us for lunch and to find you a good not too expensive, but better, bottle.

   Best,
Joey

Hi Brian

I agreed with the rest.

Stay away from these bottles. You will be happier later.

Regards.

Richard

P.S. Joey, I will see you in L.A.

Dear Richard,

     Wonderful!
So you must come with me to lunch or dinner in LA, when I host the Forum members who are in the area. And then I'll get to see you and the other Singapore based members when I visit, 01-08.Dec.

And my niece is visiting my Irish home in 2 weeks, and will bring me the bone spoons when she returns to Israel, a week before I start my round the world trip.

Best,
Joey

Dear Jo,

Ditto! (An oblique "Blazing Saddles" reference!  Wink),
