吕月明 (Lv yueming) was born in 1969, started his inside painting career from early 90s, he is currently Fu guoshun's student, but also a inside painting master in Hengshui Provence. He is good at portrait painting and animals painting, have developed some unique techniques for his painting.

He shared this bottle with me a while back, I think its a fabulous bottle, so I would like to share with all here.

I commissioned a panda bottle from him after I see the hairs painted in this bottle, will share you all once I have it.

Enjoy!

Steven

Dear Steven-

Wow!  An excellent bottle with superb painting.  The fineness of the details is incredible.  While the subject matter doesn't "bowl me over", the brushwork is outstanding.  An artist to be encouraged.

Thanks George and Rick !

I totally agree with the artist has master level painting skills, once he has some understanding of the collectors are looking for, his bottles can be sought for by the collectors. we will see what he can come up with the panda bottle.

Dear Steven,

Thank you for sharing. Truly beautiful, I'm particularly amazed about his skills in painting the figure's hair, grass and the sheep feathers! They look so fine! Can't imagine how much painstaking efforts and time the artist had put in to complete this bottle! His skills are certainly not worse than his teacher master Fu in my humble opinion.

Best,
Samson

Dear Samson,

Are you translating from Chinese? 'Feathers' are the covering found on birds; we call the sheep's covering hair, or wool when removed from the sheep... Grin
Best,
Joey

Dear Joey,

Thank you for correcting my mistake! I wasn't quite sure about "feather" either. I googled a bit and found some similar examples. Apparently those people too were unaware of their wrong choice of word. In any event, I should have easily remembered that it's "wool" instead after having taught my 3 year old son how to sing "baa baa black sheep have you any wool" many times! Grin

Dear Samson,

When the fur hangs down on a dog like an Irish Setter, it is called 'feathering'. Could that be what they were referring to?

Dear Joey,

That could have been the case. Not quite sure really.

As for the artist's name, the most accurate spelling would be Lü Yueming. The mandarin Pinyin system adopted the letter "ü" for phonics. However, the letter is not available on English keyboards. Thus, Pinyin input systems found on computers and other electronic devices typically generate a Chinese character with a "ü" sound when "v" is being keyed in. Hope my explanation is clear for you... Smiley

Best,
Samson

Dear Samson,

So 'v' is in place of a 'u' with an umlaut (the 'two dots' symbol).
Thanks, I learned something new today.  Grin
Always a good thing.
Best,
Joey

Dear Samson,

       Thank you.
Did they take the 'umlaut' symbol from German?

Dear Joey,

Although not 100% certain, I think that is highly likely the case. The view is shared by quite many. By the way, I just learned that the Pinyin system was developed by Chinese linguist Zhou Yougang as part of the Chinese language reform to increase literacy in China. The system turned out to be very useful in helping foreigners grasp Mandarin pronunciation. It also helps standardize Mandarin pronunciation in China, enabling Chinese of various regions in China to better understand one another... Taiwan on the other hand adopts a different system. Personally I'm not familiar with it... Smiley

Best,
Samson

Dear Samson,

I don't like the Taiwanese romanization of Chinese (writing Chinese in Latin letters).
I much prefer Pinyin.
Best,
Joey
