Dear all,

I am interested in the following few bottles. As much as I'd like to get them, I'll only allow myself to pay reasonable price for them. Can you give me an idea on what would be the reasonable price for these bottles ? Other opinions on them are also appreciated. Thanks!

Best,
Samson

Dear Samson,
just a quick comment. The red dragon is impressive; Guangxu, but looking Kangxi!

Dear Samson,

The red dragon is worth a few hundred USD. The red glass fish and the last one, stay away from.
The Jadeite (?) looks not bad, but I'm not sure.
Best,
Joey

Thanks Joey for your honest opinion. What do you reckon on the following few more?

Dear Samson,

I LOVE the last one. In fact, I had one very similar to it, from Y.F. Yang  and company, which I bought from YF in Hong Kong in Oct. 1978, #13 in my 1987 catalogue.
The first one looks superb as well. And I love the carved Amber one.
I agree with the George - not sure about the second one.
Best,
Joey

Dear Joey and George,

It's a dilemma. I like all of them, unfortunately I can only pick one, and I may end up getting none of them if prices go beyond my affordability!  Smiley

Joey, the last overlay bottle with a goldfish on it is actually my second most favorite (after the red overlay carp bottle which you advised me to stay away from, which I WILL) and I do remember seeing it in your catalog. But it is the last among all the above in the auction sequence which is not good for my bidding strategy. So I may have to make a tough decision to let it pass to have a better chance of getting one of the rest.

The auction house did provide a price estimate for these bottles, but I'd like to know your estimates as I am not sure whether I should take theirs as the standard for reasonable prices. Huh

Thanks a lot!

Best,
Samson

I think you can't go wrong with any of the jades. Personally, I like the amber a lot.

Can anyone give me a price estimate on bottles other than the porcelain one? Sorry kind of urgent as the auction will kick off soon! Much appreciated!

Samson

Unless someone wants to talk about this via private messaging for you, publicly here within the forum, we really are sticking to this : http://snuffbottle.smfforfree.com/index.php/topic,3184.0.html

Or you can search ahead of time through some archived auction listings for comparing potential values..

I see George. Sorry for my ignorance. Didn't come across that post before. I agree the new rule makes things fairer.
