Hello! This bottle was one in a lot that I recently purchased. To be clear, I did not purchase the lot for this bottle.

The bottle itself appears old, and I've never seen inside painting on clear glass before.

I have looked in my books and can find nothing like it. It is a curiousity.

Any ideas on this bottle?

I like this type/group of bottles very much Cathy...

The following is something Steven shared with me in regards to this type of bottle.

"These bottles could be 1850-1870 bottle before Zhou Leyuan started the middle school, there were a group of bottles painted between the early school and middles school, also painted with solid color with solid outline, most of the motifs are flowers and animals".

Below are a few examples to compare with Cathy..

Cathy,

I have a bottle by Zhou Leyuan painted on clear (not frosted) glass, in Category C (Bird & Flower) in my "Worlds in a Bottle".
Best,
Joey

Hey Joey,

I can't figure out which one it is. I am thinking it's C-7? Your photographer did a good job of hiding the other side! That's an early bottle!

Dear Cathy,

Yes, it is C-7. It is Zhou Leyuan, ca. 1886/1887. Yes, the photographer is very good.
Best,
Joey
