Beautiful things deserve appreciation

« on: September 05, 2016, 07:32:22 pm »

Dear all,

I found this Chen Zhongsan signed bottle that draws my interest. At first glance, the subjects depicted in this one (an inn) seems to be a common one, I've seen another CZS bottle with more or less the same subjects.

Do you think this is really CZS's work? What are your opinions on this one?

Thanks guys!

Best,
Samson

Thanks guys!

Joey, the seller says it is in a good condition with very minor paint wear (normal for inside painting of this age?) And there is a crack in its stopper but I can't quite notice it from the pics.

Best,

Samson

Dear Samson,

The bottle is about 120 yrs. old. A small bit of wear to the painting is acceptable, but the bottle looks fine from that point of view.
A crack in the STOPPER is nothing serious. You can always change the stopper.
Is there a crack in the bottle itself? In the neck or the footrim? That drops monetary value drastically, though it would not affect esthetic value.
Best,
Joey
