Dear members,

I don't have access to my books at present, but I feel like I have seen this in a catalog before. Also I can't figure out what is written on the base. The auction house calls it a Zhoukun mark, but I have searched and can't figure out what that is? Is it a reign mark, an artist, a date? I have no idea.

I have also searched the possibility that it might be the name of a type of jade (Kun Lun) - which might be jade or serpentine. And then I have found references to a spiritual person named Zhou Kun online.

Any help you could give me on this piece would be most appreciated - including opinions on whether or not it fits the definition of a "real" snuff bottle.

And we are back to the 'old' Cathy.  Sad
And you were doing so much better.   Sad
See how three of the four words before 'bottle' start with 'C'? So does the adjective I'd use to describe it.  Grin
Best,
Joey

Hi Cathy, I like decorative bottles and wouldn't mind if it was modern and I liked it enough, but this one isn't to my taste - each to their own:) Purely guessing, but the material to me looks like some kind of stone substance that's been ground and then mixed together and then maybe dyed.
