Dear Members,

Is this bottle a new tourist piece? I like the blue glass, but the fish look cartoon-like and are awfully colorful in my opinion. Any thoughts?

Brian,

I'm pretty sure that this bottle is stenciled and not truly an inside painted bottle.  There is a technique/process that allows the manufacture to transpose a stenciled image or even a photo to the inside of a bottle.  Then they just paint in between the lines as you would in a coloring book.

Dear Charll,

I just thought of a good use for these bottles, thanks to your description:
If they package them in a kit, with a few of the special IPSB brushes, and paints, and the bottle ONLY has the stencilled image, the kits could be marketed at museum shops as "IPSB Paint by Numbers" kits. Or, if the stencils were left out, but the bottles were still ready for painting, as "IPSB Paint Your Own Design"  kits.
They would be a great tie-in to exhibitions of snuff bottles which included IPSBs.
Best,
Joey
