Here are three of my bottles (sorry for putting in the overlay in this section, but don't want to make multiple posts). They are 1 inside painted, 1 inside painted rectangular, and 1 red overlay on speckled Beijing glass. I purchased these from someone that lived in Shanghai during the 1930s.

Hi Brian,

I am new too, and so have learned that it's best if you post each bottle separately in the right section, and take pictures of the front, back, side, the base and the top without the stopper in it so the collectors here can really take a good look at them.

There are also some rules on picture sizes (basically no wider than 800 pixels and I think no bigger than 180kb I think?) I can't seem to find the post on the picture maximum size, but just optimize it so it's not huge. I think there are limits on total space we can use here.

But if you do that, then these guys can really help you out! Your rectangular inside painted bottle looks interesting so I look forward to seeing what the experts say about it.

Dear Cathy,

Thank you for the guides, I am impressed.
Try to keep within a 300Kb per photo guide.

The inside painted looks to be painted by Yong Shoutian.

Cheers,
YT

Dear Brian,

It looks to be in the style of Yong Shaotian. We'd need closer and unblocked view of it to
be sure. But I'm not an expert on YST, since I don't collect his works. He was in the third tier of artists in the late 19th/early 20th C. Middle Period of Inside Painting. Steven, George, Pat, and Charll collect him, though. And know a lot more about him than me.
Best,
Joey

Dear Cathy,

I agree with YT.  Well done.
Best,
Joey

Thanks YT and Joey! See... I do listen!

I'm excited to see more of that bottle. It looks very promising from the little peak we can see of it and I would be very interested to learn more about YST - I like his style very much.

Yes, indeed it does look to be Yong Shoutian .. Best guess is about 1920..  If we can see all four panels, we can tell the theme for you Brian.  Likely a story from Three Kingdoms period.. Maybe The Victory in Jun Shan, or possibly Story of Cao Fighting with Ma Chao..

Dear Brian,

I believe this provenance as I owned a few of these types of inside painted bottles which were bought from a collector that bought in the 1950s.
With these present quality to start, why don't you pool your resources and looked for similar or better quality bottles? One good quality bottle versus ten modern touristy ones which will not appreciate in value.

Dear Brian,

Attached is a photo taken from a 1978 journal.
Further linking your bottle to be painted by Yong ShouTian.

Cheers,

Wow YT! It's amazing that you found this one! Are they essentially the same bottle? It seems to me that's the case!

Dear Samson,

They are not the same bottle.  Smiley
Just similar shape and subject and presumably size.

Cheers,
YT
