Hi All :

I am guessing it could be Jet, any thought?... what would be a possible date for this bottle.

Dear Pin,

You will know it is Jet when you handle it. It should be smooth, light weight and feels something like charcoal.

If this is heavy then It could be a black hardstone that is still unknown. There is a group of these which previously were classified as Black Jade but now described as hardstone.

Cheers,

Pin, I saw this one. I believe it is jet by looking at the surface texture, but as mentioned above, the best test is once you hold jet in your hand.. Super light !

Hi All

Will know in a few weeks time..... Brought this last nite hoping that it's jet... I do have a pabble size jet that I brought to place in my office ...(it's said to be a good protector of its master) and the surface texture looks similar.....

Yes... Jet is very light, almost unreal to its look...

Dear Pin,

Could it be plain black lacquer?

Pin,

There were a number of good bottles in that sale in my opinion.  Was that the only bottle that you picked up?   When I saw it I though it was likely jet or a lacquer bottle.

Hi Pin

I agreed with Charll and Joey.

From the second photo, the stains appeared to be either glue residues or peels. If they are peels, it is likely that it is a lacquer bottle, otherwise it could be jet.

Regards.

Which sale was this?
I didn't see it listed in the Babylon Auction on July 31st. Were there any other sales that day?

Thanks Pin

I had bids on several of the quartz bottles, so didn't notice this one (luckily for you!).   Grin

Tom

PS: By the way, did Babylon offer to arrange the shipping, or did you find someone yourself?

Hi Pin,

Have you received the bottle yet? I can't wait to find out what it's made from!

You made me laugh...... not yet, busy these few days, I haven't even paid up.... hahahah

(Actually I only noticed the bottle at the last min and since I have brought sometime and will need to pay for shipment already, I decided to put a little bet on this)
