  You could be correct, but as long as there is a cutoff to mark the label area, I doubt that would be a problem. And what seems logical to you or me, might not to a Chinese craftsman or apothecary. And if there is a difference, it is easier to identify the way to hold it in the dark.

It's a possibility, except that the lower ridge just below where the label might have been meant to be, is rounded as compared to being almost squared off at the top ridge.  Probably not a big deal breaker for being a possible label location, just seems like both ridges would be equally squared..
