Hi you guys,

I just bought this bottle on ebay and would love to find out more about it. I have been reading as much as I can about overlay peking glass (you have some great threads on here about recognizing the newer ones) , and I'm hoping this was a good buy.
The yellow is a vibrant yellow, and it looks hand carved - it even looks like the sculptor carved into the yellow. I read about the base on overlay bottles and based on that I'm hoping it's old (like prior to 1900) - would welcome your opinions.

Hi there cshapiro ..

Sorry to let you know that not an old one. The overlay is hand carved, or rather carved with a power rotary tool, and very modern.  Pretty bottle though ! I like the stork and lilly pad theme.

Cathy,

As George said about the newness of the bottle's production, don't underestimate the difficulty of the process involved . You may be interested to google for information on glass overlay, etc to get to know the array of bottles involving glass overlay. Let this piece of yours be the stepping stone to something more fine and lovely in future.
