Greetings All

My partner and I recently went to an Antique Fair and whilst there found a pendent she liked and bought it for her birthday. Having worn it for a week she told me the top had come loose and n further inspection realised it was a threaded spoon. As a snuff bottle collector herself she was obviously thrilled. Attached are 3 photographs for your perusal, please excuse the poor quality. Your comments would be greatly appreciated.

Kind regards Jason and Lou

Greetings again

I forgot to mention the bottle measures 33mm high, 16mm wide and 12mm in depth.

Kind regards

Sometimes a scent bottle will have a snuff type spoon compared to a dobber type.

Is there any smell to the inside, and a makers mark by chance ?

Interesting bottle! It's small size, and being made of silver reminds me of some Thai snuff bottles I have seen, although those usually have a 'snorting tube', not a spoon.

Hi Both

Thank you for your replies, much appreciated.

George, I did wonder if this was a scent bottle however I discounted the idea due to the fact I don't think it will hold any liquid. Regarding odour there is no smell of either perfume or snuff. The bottle is obviously not new as it has a nice silver grey patina which can only be created by years of wear, however, neither do I think it is of any great age. The bottle is also heavier than one would expect for its size, which leads me to believe the silver is thicker than one would have expected for a bottle made in Europe. There are no identifying marks on the bottle or hallmarks although the finding has got a silver mark on it I don't believe it was original to the bottle as it is grossly out of proportion with the bottle.

Tom, thank you for the information regarding similar Thai bottles that does at least give me hope it was intended as a snuff bottle, however we shall never know the makers intention.

Kind regards to you both
