I would agree that most collectors are happy creatures.

Dear Tom, Pat, and Giovanni,

Thank you. You appreciated the story because you are yourselves warmhearted collectors. I suspect that Stefan Zweig was, as well.

But in my response to Steven, I agreed that MOST collectors are happy creatures. That is because I know a few collectors for whom it is more like warfare, and they are not collegial, as we are, but so competitive and willing to not only denigrate another's treasures, but physically damage them.

Thankfully,  that type of collector is rare.
Best,
Joey

Dear Tom,

Yes, not as rare as that, but still rare, Thank G-D...   Grin Roll Eyes

Dear Joey,

Thank you for this wonderful story, I really enjoy reading things like that.  I have viewed a few collections over the years and come away thinking, "that guy must be blind", but this is a whole different story.

Thanks,

Tom B.

Dear Tom,

We've ALL seen collections like that!   Roll Eyes Cheesy Grin

That is like the famous old Israeli joke about the Israeli farmer on his 10 acre smallholding farm, hosting his cousin from Texas.
The Texan says,"this is all you've got?! I have a spread (a ranch to you or I) in Texas, so big I need to drive over 30 hours to cross it!"
The Israeli replies,"i had a car like that once, but I sold it and got a new one!"
Best,
Shabbat Shalom,
Joey

Joey,

Thanks for the story.
I can identify with it because each of us has a journey of our collection and the emotions
that accompanied every piece of snuff bottle that came into our homes.
