Dear All,

Could you please share your thoughts on this enamel on glass bottle? Is it genuinely from the Qianlong period or is it a late Wang Xisan bottle?

It measures 7 cm.

Thanks!

Hi Marcos,

Welcome from me too. As George says, the mark is Qianlong, but is apocryphal. It is a good modern copy. I have a few myself, as they are around 50,000 times cheaper than the genuine article, and technically almost as good!

One indicator of these replicas is that the blue mark (or red as may be) is overlaid/painted on the base and the originals have an incised/flush seal/mark.

Good point Pat.
Another indicator (not always) is that the proportions of the oval base are more egg shaped on modern bottles, whereas the base tends to be more elongated, smaller and less of a perfect ellipse on the older examples.
